This course, which is QCF mapped, covers the key competencies required in order to correctly select the most appropriate Solar Thermal system for different buildings following client consultation. It also covers the safe installation and commission of systems and their maintenance and servicing.

 

A course such as this is the requirement of the Minimum Technical Competency (MC) document for solar installers and is recognised as evidence of suitable training for the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme). It is also NOS & QCF Mapped.

 

The training course and manual cover the following:

•          Introduction to solar heating

•          Service and maintenance

•          Solar collectors

•          Hot water storage and key installation issues

•          Preparing to install a solar water heating system

•          Fitting solar collectors

•          Plumbing layout and design of solar water heating systems

•          Control and power requirements

•          System commissioning and handover to client

Pre-requisites:

Trainees should have a minimum NVQ level 2/3 qualification in plumbing or conventional heating engineering or demonstrable evidence of at least 3 years relevant experience, a Domestic Vented and Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems Certificate, Water Regulations and Part L Energy Efficiency Certificates.
